Are religious texts dangerous? Should seemingly violent passages in scripture be rejected, embraced or ignored? This interactive workshop discusses violent-sounding passages from the Bible and the Quran, and how religious communities engage with these texts.

The event will include an introductory presentation followed by an in-depth participatory discussion of a sample passage from the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. The workshop is led by researchers from the Scripture &amp; Violence Project (www.scriptureandviolence.org), which is based in the Cambridge Interfaith Programme at the Faculty of Divinity (www.interfaith.cam.ac.uk).
