Sea Glass Jewellery Workshop - Bezel Setting

No experience neccesary - Suitable for total beginners :)

The process:

During this workshop, you will learn how to correctly measure, cut, file, solder, and finish your own pieces.

To start with, we will practice techniques and explore design options with copper before progressing onto using recycled 925. Sterling Silver for the final design.

All materials and tools will be provided. At the end of the day, you will take home your very own handcrafted one-of-a-kind pendant or ring – as well as an organic Fairtrade cotton pouch and a little surprise! Extra silver can be purchased if you have a big project in mind..

You are more than welcome to bring your own sea glass, however I do have a vast array of shapes and colours to choose from should you wish to use some of mine.

If you are going to bring your own sea glass treasures, please get in touch with me beforehand as I will need to check that it is suitable for bezel setting before we start (size & shape etc).

Additional information:

Bezel setting is the technique of encasing Sea Glass around the back and sides of the Sea Glass piece and folding in the edges to keep it safe and secure.

Attendees must be 16 years of age and above.

Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult (there is no extra fee). If you / or someone you know are wishing to attend a workshop and are under 16 years, please send me an email and I will be happy to help.

Sensible, closed shoes required and no loose clothing: things can get a little messy in a jewellery making environment and whilst apron’s are provided, it’s worth bearing in mind not to wear your very best clothes!

As this course is a full day, please bring your own packed lunch. Alternatively, if you’d like to treat yourself… Muddy Beach Cafe, Sunshine Studio Cafe and Baileys Country Store are all close by!

Extras:

Should you wish to have your Sea Glass cut into a specific shape and size (cabochon) beforehand, for example a perfect tear drop or circle, I can do so for an additional fee of £30. You can either come into the studio and pre-select one of mine, or bring your own. Please let me know in advance if you would like this option as it will need to be cut before the day.

Hot Benching:

Once the course has been completed you will be able to hire 1 of 4 available silversmithing benches – fully equipped with tools included – for a day rate of £20. This will enable you to continue to develop your new skills independently. Please note, you will need to bring your own silver. I am happy to guide you on what you need to order and where from.
