Seaweed Pressing Workshop at CAST, Helston

Join us to learn the craft of seaweed pressing - a Victorian practice that captures the underwater beauty of seaweeds.

During the workshop you will learn to recognise, identify and press local seaweed species. The cultural history of seaweeds will be discussed, as well it’s culinary, agricultural, scientific and ecological uses.

After laying out your designs your pressings will be loaded into your portable seaweed press made from cardboard where they will dry over the next weeks in your home.

This event is part of CAST's Open Studios celebratory weekend.

Location : You will be hosted in The Seaweed Institutes beautiful light filled studio . Our studio is number 14; we will be waiting to meet you downstairs by the entrance to the cafe to direct you to the studio.
Duration: 2.5 hours
