Bidh Sìleas Nic na Ceàrdaich os cionn feasgar seasgair de sheinn 'scratch' - fosgailte do dhuine sam bith a bha a-riamh le miann seinn Ghàidhlig fheuchainn!

Renowned local musician and acclaimed Oban Gaelic Choir conductor, Sìleas Sinclair, will host a relaxed afternoon of ‘scratch’ choir singing, open to anyone who’s ever wanted to give Gaelic singing a go.

Seinn Leinn aims to give folk a taste of the camaraderie, mental respite and joy that comes with choral singing, without the commitment of joining a choir.

Throughout the course of the afternoon, you’ll pick up some of the classically popular Gaelic songs, meaning you’ll be able to join in wherever you find yourself at a cèilidh – from Benderloch to Barvas and Kilmore to Castlebay – you’ll fit right in!

Amongst the highlights of a Gaelic chorister’s calendar is the Royal National Mòd – which returns to Oban this year.

It’s hoped that singers will come away from Seinn Leinn with the confidence and enthusiasm to participate in the most moving of Mòd events, the Massed Choirs – a gathering of hundreds of Gaelic choir singers to mark the end of the National Mòd.

This year, Oban will be treated to not one but TWO massed choir opportunities, after the Local Mòd takes place on the first weekend of June and the National Mòd comes to Oban in October.

Seinn Leinn will take place in the Rockfield Centre, Oban on Sunday 19th May between 1pm and 4pm.
