Self-directed Support and Dementia Learning Session

We work to promote the values and principles of Self-directed Support, including choice, control and flexibility, in all aspects of social care support.We do this by working collaboratively across the social care sector: with Scottish Government, Local Authorities, third sector organisations and our members, to improve Self-directed Support implementation in Scotland.As a membership organisation, we bring together those who share our vision and values, to amplify our collective voice around social care support issues.As a Disabled People’s Organisation (an organisation where at least 51% of the Board are either disabled people or/and people who are eligible for social care support), we stand up for the rights of disabled people and people who need support.And we champion local Independent SDS Support Organisations across Scotland, who help thousands of people every year access and manage the support they need to live a good life.Find out more out what we doon our website.

Learn how Self-directed Support (SDS) can help people living with dementia and their care partners.

This session covers types of dementia, common challenges, SDS Options 1–4, and how to give empowering advice that supports choice, independence, and future planning. Join our learining session delivered by Alzheimer Scotland to learn how Self-directed Support (SDS) can help people living with dementia and their care partners. By the end of this learning session, the participant will be able to:<ol><li>Understand what self-directed support (SDS) is and how it can help people living with dementia and their care partners.</li><li>Recognise different types of dementia and the common challenges people living with dementia and their care partners may face.</li><li>Describe extra barriers that might make it harder for people living with dementia and their care partners to access or manage SDS.</li><li>Feel confident giving advice that supports choice, independence, and control, helping people living with dementia and their care partners make decisions about SDS.</li></ol> TimeThe session will take place online through Teams from 9:30am until 1:00pm. TicketsSDS Scotland members will be able to access discounted tickets, with non-members also being able to purchase tickets for this event.Places are limited to just 15 participants to allow space for discussion, and we anticipate this training to be popular, so don't miss out!
