SEND Reforms Information Session
A clear, accessible briefing for parents and carers on the Government’s proposed SEND reforms – and how to have your say.
Understanding the Government’s SEND Proposals – Information session for parents and carers
The Government is currently consulting on proposed changes to SEND support in schools. At this stage, these are proposals only. No changes have been made and all existing SEND support for children and young people remains the same.
Because these proposals could affect children and young people with SEND in the future, it’s important that families understand what is being suggested and have the chance to share their views. The consultation is now open and runs until 18 May.
To support families, Stockport Council and Parents and Carers Together Stockport are hosting an information session at Stockroom on 22 April, 10:30am–12:00pm.
At this session, we will:
• Talk through the Government’s proposals in clear, accessible language
• Explain how to respond to the consultation
• Support parents and carers to share direct feedback
• Use your views to help shape how the Stockport SEND Local Partnership might implement the reforms in future, and to inform Stockport’s formal response to the Government.
If you have a child or young person with SEND, or if SEND support matters to you, we encourage you to come along, take part and make your voice heard.
- You can read an easy‑read version of the proposals here:
