SEND training for churches & chance to connect, reflect and access local resources to better support children and families.
Creating Belonging for Children with Additional Needs
Training for churches with Urban Saints
Friday 22nd May | 7:00–9:00pm
The Beacon Church, North Lynn
This practical and engaging training evening will help churches better welcome, include and support children with additional needs (SEND).Led by Mark Arnold (Urban Saints), the session will equip volunteers and leaders with confidence, understanding and practical tools to create environments where every child feels they belong.
Why this event?
Through the Homegrown listening and research across West Norfolk, supporting children with additional needs has emerged as a key theme. Many volunteers are already responding to this, but often feel under-equipped or are working in isolation. This evening is a response to that and building on previous training, it will create the space to learn together, share experience, and begin building stronger support across churches.
What to expect
- Practical training to help you support children with additional needs
- Real-life examples and simple, achievable ideas
- Space to reflect on your current practice and what has changed in recent years
- Opportunity to share experiences and learn from other churches
- Time to think about practical next steps
Who is it for?
- Toddler group leaders and volunteers
- Children’s and youth ministry teams
- Church leaders
- Anyone wanting to better support children with additional needs
Connecting early years and toddler groups
While this event is open to anyone working with children or young people, it is especially encouraged for toddler group leaders and those supporting under 5s.This is the first step in bringing early years teams together across churches, helping us begin to:
- Build connections between toddler groups
- Share learning and resources
- Explore how we can better support volunteers and families
- Develop ongoing training and support together
Access to local support and resources
There will also be information stands from local organisations, offering:
- Advice and guidance for supporting children and families
- Resources you can use in your groups
- Connections to local services you can signpost to
If you attended the previous training a couple of years ago, this is a great opportunity to refresh your learning, reflect on your experience, and connect with others.
