Transition to Secondary School for SEND Pupils

Supporting Your Child Through a Successful Move to Secondary Education

Starting secondary school is a big milestone for any child — and for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), the transition can bring additional questions, worries and uncertainties.

This practical online webinar is designed to support parents and carers of Year 6 children with SEND, helping you feel more informed, prepared and confident as your child moves to secondary school.

Whether your child has an EHCP, receives SEN Support, is awaiting assessments, or you are simply looking for guidance on how to make the transition smoother, this session will provide practical strategies and reassurance.

During this webinar, you will learn about:

✅ Planning ahead for a successful secondary school transition
✅ Understanding phased transfers and when they may be considered
✅ Key things to think about when your child has SEND
✅ How to work effectively with schools and professionals
✅ Questions to ask before your child starts secondary school
✅ Ways to support your child’s confidence and reduce anxiety
✅ How to advocate for your child’s needs
✅ Practical tips to help your child prepare emotionally and practically

There will also be an opportunity to take part in a live Q&A, where you can ask questions and gain further guidance.
