About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Singing workshop with Senegalese Chanting Master Batch Gueye, accompanied by live percussion and Kora.

In this workshop we will sing the spiritual songs of the Senegalese Baye Fall people and traditional songs of the leader of the Baye Fall. Batch Gueye leads us to connect to our voice, to our heart and what the people need around us. In this way, singing is a form of prayer, teaching us to be kind and understanding. Open to everyone, we will harmonise, learn about our voices and feel what is inside of us.

Baye Fall - Senegalese Mouride collective whose role is to encourage people, bring people together, have kind ears to listen, work hard and remain humble. They often hold chanting ceremonies and feed their community.

For the Baye Fall Chanting Workshop, please wear modest clothes (covering shoulders and legs). Please bring a scarf or something to to cover hair as is traditional for these ceremonies.

Price includes a Herbal Singers Tea.

We have a limited number of concession tickets available for people on a lower income. Please get in touch or pop into the cafe if you would like one.
