Many autistic and ADHD children and young people experience the world differently through their senses.Sensory processing affects how we respond to sound, light, touch, movement, taste, smell and everything happening around us every day.When the sensory system becomes overwhelmed, under stimulated, or overloaded, it can impact:<ul><li>emotional regulation</li><li>focus and attention</li><li>behaviour</li><li>anxiety levels</li><li>sleep</li><li>eating</li><li>social interaction</li><li>school experiences</li><li>daily routines</li></ul>This workshop will help parents, carers and professionals better understand:<ul><li>what sensory processing is</li><li>sensory seeking and sensory avoiding</li><li>why some behaviours are actually sensory responses</li><li>overwhelm, shutdowns and meltdowns</li><li>how the environment impacts the nervous system</li><li>practical ways to support sensory needs at home and school</li></ul>The session is neurodiversity affirming and focuses on understanding the “why” behind behaviours rather than simply managing behaviours on the surface.Suitable for:<ul><li>Parents and carers</li><li>Professionals working with children and young people</li><li>Anyone wanting to better understand sensory processing differences</li></ul>
