Overview

Sensory Processing Needs Toolkit Launch

The Leicestershire Autism Outreach Team recognises the impact Sensory Processing Needs of Neurodiverse children and young people has on both their ability to manage the whole school environment as well as the impact on mental and emotional well-being, linking directly to their access and attainment in education. In response, we have developed a standardised approach across the whole team to support schools to develop an inclusive environment and to make reasonable adjustments for all pupils with sensory processing needs. At the heart of the approach is the consideration of each individual environment and each individual within it.

The toolkit aims to provide schools with a step-by-step guide to developing a sensory inclusive environment alongside developing individual sensory plans where necessary.

This is a free session which not only includes training to enhance your understanding of Sensory Processing Needs but will also guide you Step by Step through the Autism Outreach’s graduated approach to sensory processing within the toolkit. The toolkit access provides a wealth of resources free to your school.

To support and build schools’ confidence in creating sensory safe environments, sensory needs and understanding the 8 sensory processing systems, we will provide training to support the understanding of, and implementation of, the Sensory Processing Needs Toolkit for Schools.
