Services without stigma: delivering sustainable and dignified anti-poverty support during the cost-of-living crisis

An invitation to join a Challenge Poverty Week event from the Wales Anti-Poverty Coalition All of us want to live with dignity – to be treated as fully human, to have choices and be able to participate in our community. But this winter, the soaring cost of living will deny that dignity to millions of people. People will be forced to choose between heating or eating… to skip meals so their children can eat… to miss out on the social occasions that everyone deserves to enjoy.Across Wales, community groups, schools and service providers are working hard to ensure those facing the greatest hardship have somewhere to turn for help. Poverty has a toxic effect on the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. But people facing poverty tell us that when services are delivered in a way that prioritises their dignity, it helps to support their wellbeing and makes poverty less painful to bear.In this free webinar, we’ll hear from a range of Welsh organisations that are using their poverty-relief services to uphold the dignity of their service users, promoting sustainable and inclusive solutions to the hardship faced by hundreds of thousands of families across our county.It’s a chance to learn about creative solutions to longstanding problems and celebrate the good practice happening every day in communities up and down the land.Speakers include:Patience Bentu – Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for WalesKathryn Newman – Child Poverty Action GroupAllison Hulmes - British Association of Social WorkersWill Price - Neath Port Talbot MindCherrie Bija - Faith in FamiliesJoanna Seymour - Warm WalesSusan Lloyd Selby - Trussell TrustEmma Musgraves - Purple ShootsJ﻿ames Hall - People and WorkA﻿nna Humphreys - Community Housing CymruT﻿he presentations will run from 10.30 until midday (with a short break halfway through).
