As an investor, we’re often asked, what are we looking for. The truth, we’re all different. In this workshop, you’ll create your own venture fund, then pick and defend investment opportunities.

Speaker: Harry Alexander, Investment Manager for QuantX

Participants: Early stage founders and anyone pitching investors

Agenda (subject to change):

1. What is venture capital and how does it work
2. Launch your venture fund: attendees will split into teams and decide on an investment strategy.
3. Deal selection and investment committee prep (if you’re happy to submit your deck, please do so).
4. Break
5. Investment committee: Defend your deal
6. Discussion on rejected deals
7. Portfolio game (tbc)

  1. Discussion/Q&A

Learning objectives:

- Understanding that venture teams have different and highly specific investment strategies. Where to find this.

- A basic grasp of fund models and portfolio build, time frames, and success metrics.

- Understanding of basic process of decision making in VC teams.

Bonus:

- Understanding why certain pitch decks jump out and what to do about it

A little bit of fun and chaos for the afternoon.
