The workshop is designed to help founders and staff across all levels, including C Suite and HR professionals.

This workshop will help you to recognise both personal and institutional bias, understand young and minority communities and develop the intercultural communication skills needed to develop an inclusive environment.The workshop aims to enhance the inclusive work culture in your growing start-up by:<ul><li>Exploring practices to help build inclusive experiences within the employee cycle.</li><li>Improving objectivity in decision making affecting the diverse and underrepresented workforce of SETsquared members.</li><li>Helping participants to have increased empathy and understanding of staff from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and those with disabilities.</li></ul>The session will enable you to:<ul><li>Understand the impact of personal and organisational bias in the workplace.</li><li>Explore inclusive practices within the employee cycle: recruitment, selection, retention and progression.</li><li>Reflect and put theory into practice on active inclusion challenges in a case clinic.</li></ul>Participants will :<ul><li>Acquire practical ways for recognising and alleviating both personal and organisational bias that occurs during recruitment, staff engagement and progression in the workplace. </li><li>Have a space to ask questions, digest, and self-reflect on how to develop the courage and commitment to use inclusive practice.</li></ul>This session will be delivered by Sangeetha Wynter, Babbasa’s Training and Inclusion Manager. Sangeetha will share her knowledge and experience of promoting diversity, inclusion and cultural competence. She will also provide an insight into ‘lived’ experiences of working in an organisation as a minority from herself and others. Aboute Babbasa We exist to inspire and support young people from ethnically diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds in Bristol to pursue their professional ambitions. Since incorporating in 2013, Babbasa has transformed the lives of over 2,200 young people. We have been honoured to receive several awards, including the Queen’s Award for outstanding achievement in promoting opportunities. However, problems persist, with Bristol being ranked the 7th worst of 348 districts in London and Wales for ethnic inequalities.
