Sharing Digital Infrastructure using the Tameside cooperative model

TheTameside Digital Infrastructure Cooperativebrings together public and private sector organisations to create and share new digital infrastructure in and around Tameside.

Tameside Digital Infrastructure Cooperative

Tameside Council built a fibre ring using a new and unique model: cooperative asset sharing. This allowed other public sector bodies to contribute, including the Government's Local Full Fibre Networks (LFFN) programme. Now there's a 50km fibre infrastructure being shared with private sector businesses, who are using it to create new, ultra-fast digital services.
Come and hear how Tameside did it, how the Government has helped accelerate the programme; how private telecoms and Internet businesses are now working together to make Tameside one of the best connected boroughs in the UK; and how the model can be replicated elsewhere.
