Event description
Working together to tackle poverty in Sheffield

About this event

You are invited by Cllr Terry Fox, Leader of Sheffield City Council, to this online summit on poverty. Many people in Sheffield are facing a financial 'cliff edge' of reduced income coupled with increasing prices, which comes after the severe financial difficulties of the pandemic and previous years. We want to use this summit is to bring people together to share their understanding of the issues around poverty and to identify some solutions we can achieve as a city, building on the work of Sheffielders to support each other both before and during the pandemic.

The first half of the event will feature presentations and then these will be followed by workshops to allow us to explore some areas in more detail, focusing on how poverty and financial difficulty relates to housing, health, people with disabilities, people from BAME communities and food access. There will also be a session on how to direct people towards support and other workshops to be confirmed.

The conversations at this event will provide the starting point for developing a tackling poverty action plan for Sheffield.

Attendees will be able to choose the workshop most relevant to them and further details of the presentations and workshops will follow.
