Event description
Special panel discussion and debate on the topic of flying, our relationship with it, it's impact on the environment and what we need to do.

About this Event

How many flights do you take a year? Do you fly for work, leisure or both?

In the modern world we live in, flying has become an everyday part of our lives and has undoubtedly made our planet a smaller and more accessible place. Flying is also an emotive subject which divides opinion and access to air travel is sometimes seems to be related to and defended as though it is a human right.

However, with climate change now dominating the headlines, and the impact that air travel and the aviation industry is having on the environment coming into ever sharper focus, we feel that people are now open to having a conversation about our relationship with flying.

Therefore, Zero Waste London, in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Goals network, will be partnering with WeWork to host a special discussion and debate with a panel of different industry experts, followed by a Q&A session with questions from the audience.

We will objectively discuss the different issues related to this subject including tourism, business travel, package holidays and flying as a human right. The aim of the event is educate and inform attendees and equip people with all of the information they need to be able to make informed choices in their lives in this area.

The panel for the event will be:

• Anna Hughes from the Flight Free 2020 campaign

• Lizzie Harrocks from the Aviation Environment Federation

• Vicky Smith from the sustainable travel agency Earth Changers

• Emma Kemp or Leo Murray from Climate Perks

• Daren Howarth from C-Level, a company who deal with helping individuals and organisations to be carbon balanced
