<p>Over more than twelve years, a large community has sprung up around Simon Clark's videos on university life, science, and climate change. So it's about time that we put on an event for that community, giving you a chance to meet up in real life and (among other things):</p><ul><li>Meet Simon (for better or for worse)</li><li>Learn about science communication and climate change</li><li>Be educated and entertained by researchers from the community</li><li>Participate in a group TTRPG one shot run by the RPGeeks</li><li>Reflect on your achievements over the past twelve years</li></ul><p>A﻿s the first event we've put on like this, we are keeping it relatively small and basing it in Simon's home town of Bath. If this is successful, we may consider putting on similar events elsewhere - let us know on social media if you would like this to happen!</p>

<h2>Lightning talks</h2><p>R﻿esearchers in the community are invited to apply to give a lightning talk (3 minutes, 1 slide, 2 minutes of questions) on their work at this event. We are hoping to showcase a wide variety of subjects and provide the audience with an interesting (and entertaining!) experience. Talks will be filmed should you wish to post the recording elsewhere.</p>
Y﻿ou may elect to opt out of recording of your talk if you wish. Speakers must be registered paid attendees of the event.

<h2>The Venue</h2><p>The event will be located an indoors venue in Bath City Centre, located within a 10 minute walk of Bath Spa Railway Station.</p><p>The exact venue location was disclosed via email on Monday 28th August at 9am BST in an email to all attendees with subject line "Si Mon Sci Comm Con: Final Event Information ".</p><p><strong>T﻿his information will not be published on this event page. Please check your emails, or contact the organiser for assistance.</strong></p><p><strong>F﻿or late registrants (after 27th August): </strong>You will be automatically emailed this information at 23:55 on the day of your registration, or the day following.</p><p>If you encounter any issues in this regard please contact the event organisers.</p><h2>Accessibility</h2><p>During talks, seating will be provided for all attendees.</p><h3>Mobility</h3><p>Parts of the event will be held downstairs, there is 1 standard flight of stairs and a lift dividing the two.</p><p>T﻿he event venue is wheelchair accessible throughout with a lift to the top floor.</p><p>W﻿e will collect any accessibility needs at checkout, and ensure we can meet them. If we cannot, we will get in touch with you and discuss, with the option of a full refund.</p><h3>B﻿athrooms</h3><p>B﻿athrooms are located on the same floor as the majority of the event.</p><p>T﻿he venue has gender specific bathrooms and one disabled/gender neutral toilet.</p><h3>E﻿ntry</h3><p>A﻿ll attendees must present tickets for scanning upon arrival </p>

<h2>F﻿ood &amp; Drink</h2><p>N﻿o food will be provided during the event. We will provide refreshments in the form of water and soft drinks.</p><p>A﻿ bar service will be available later in the event, we will confirm which payment options they accept closer to the time</p><p>T﻿here are shops from which you can buy food located a short walk from the venue.</p><p>T﻿he venue should remain allergen free - please do not consume any food containing nuts on the premises.</p>
