This 6-day course will take place over 3 weeks via a blended learning approach, with three days face to face, and three days online over Zoom on the following dates:
- Monday 4th November (Face to Face in Portree)
- Tuesday 5th November (online via ZOOM)
- Monday 11th November (online via ZOOM)
- Tuesday 12th November(online via ZOOM)
- Monday 18th November (Face to Face in Portree)
- Tuesday 19th November (Face to Face in Portree)
PLEASE NOTE: Exams will take place outside of the above dates at a pre-arranged convenient time for you. Each learner will be able to choose when they wish to sit their exam, and it can be completed from the comfort of your own home.
Course Information
The Highfield Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6 is awarded by Highfield Qualifications. This qualification is supported by the Security Industry Authority (SIA), who regulate the private security industry.
This course is designed for learners wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications. On completion of this course, you will be able to apply for the relevant SIA Door Supervisors licence, which will allow you to work in the following areas (plus many more):
- Pubs
- Nightclubs
- Events which are licenced to sell alcohol
- Construction sites
- Retail and shopping centres
- Non-residential buildings
- Transport hubs
- And all other non-alcohol related premises
What are the eligibility requirements, and what will I need to do this learning?
- A valid Emergency First aid at Work (or equivalent) qualification. This will be covered in one of your face to face sessions.
- To register for this qualification, learners must be aged 18 and over.
- Be able to communicate clearly in English
- Correct ID – Passport, Driving Licence etc.
For the online learning:
- Access to an email account, which must be accessed during training
- Access to a photo picture app
- Access to a signature app
- The ability to scan documents and send via email
- The ability to complete documents and send via email (using Microsoft Word and Adobe)
- A quiet secured setting with no interruptions
- Access to a laptop/desktop with a camera
- Access to a smart phone
- Access to Wi-Fi
- Ability to access the ‘Zoom’ Platform (online) (you can create an account for free), from 0830hrs - 1730hrs each day

Cancellation Policy
UHI North, West & Hebrides reserves the right to cancel or defer the dates of the courses.
In the event of UHI NWH cancelling a course, delegates will be deferred to another (scheduled UHI NWH) course or given a full refund if UHI NWH are unable to provide a course on dates suitable to the learner.
In the event of cancellation of a course by the delegate, business or their representative, the following charges will apply:
More than 28 days notice – 0% of course fee charged
15-28 days – 25% of fee charged
7 to 14 days – 50% of course fee charged
7 days or less – 100% of course fee charged
