Description
Launch of Silent Raid by Sally Hogarth - 17 October
New art installation in Burgess Park
The new art work by Sally Hogarth commemorates the Zeppelin attack on Calmington Road , in 1917, with ten replica houses being produced and installed on sites across Burgess Park (the former site of Calmington Rd), each house represents one of the ten people killed in the attack.
The launch itself will be exactly 101 years after the attack and is part of the Zeppelin 1917 programme of events in Burgess Park about the First World War.
The event includes a walk of the installation sites, speeches and a special performance by poet Koko Brown.
The project is supported by Southwark Council, the Friends of Burgess Park and Theatre Deli.
On Saturday 20 October from 2-5.30pm there will be two open-to-all animated walks telling the story of the Silent Raid, starting from Theatre Deli. The animated walks will be followed by a free performance of the award winning sell-out show "The Unknown Solider".
