From 1919 ‘Carmen of the North’ features Annie Bos as ‘Carmen’ in this Dutch romantic drama film with location scenes from old Amsterdam. The film explores a complex relation of jealousy and love. In 1915 Cecil B de Mille released his picture of the popular story of Bizet’s opera ‘Carmen’ starring, however Charlie Chaplin felt it was ripe for parody…
