Sing Choirs of Angels
Overview
Sing Choirs of Angels is a recent addition to our Advent calendar and has proved immensely popular. It is a mix of Christmas music, readings and poetry conjuring up a celebratory yet reflective atmosphere ahead of the big day.
The event takes place on Christmas Eve at 4:30pm for all those who cannot make it to Midnight Mass or who need a moment to draw breath and reflect in this busiest of times.
ADMISSION
The service is open to all, ticketless and free to attend.
Many of our Advent events are very busy; please reserve a spot for early admission to the church (30 minutes before the event) to avoid disappointment.
125 places will be held for later admission via the West Door (15 minutes before the service starts) for those who arrive on the day without registration.
If you need assistance with this please contact the office on 020 7427 0133 or email stb@stbrides.com.

MUSIC
Music for Sing Choirs of Angels will contain a mixture of the old and the new.
Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe! by the 17th century German baroque composer Andreas Hammerschmidt sets the familiar words of the angels to the shepherds "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
When the song of the angels is stilled is a beautiful setting by the London-based musician Paul Ayres of a poem by the American preacher and theologian, Howard Thurman – one of the most influential religious figures of the 20th century.
The choir will also sing a choral arrangement of Peter Warlock's solo song The Frostbound Wood, which sets a poem by Bruce Blunt, the English poet and journalist.
