Event description

Description

Dr Weinberger - co-author of The Cluetrain Manifesto - will deliver the Sir Stephen Tallents Memorial Lecture on 14 March in London, as part of the CIPR's 70th anniversary celebrations.

In a talk called “Is the Internet Disappointed in Us?,” David goes against the common wisdom that the Internet has been a disaster for culture, news, politics and life overall. By examining why the early Web evangelists thought not only would the Web transform the world, but it would do so inevitably, he’ll unearth what is of genuine value in the Web and ask us all to live up to, and benefit from, its promise.

Dr Weinberger earned global notoriety for his incisive perspective on how technology has revolutionised the basics of business, culture and wider society. He has featured in The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, USA Today, The Economist, and Wired. His innovative thinking extends to journalism and politics, and he previously acted as 'Internet Advisor' in a US Presidential campaign.
