About this Event

Are you interested in meeting like-minded people in a fun, friendly and creative class?

Do you enjoy watching and listening to comedy and always choose to look for the humour in things?

If so, then this workshop is for you!

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Key tips and tricks to help you come up with hilarious and imaginative ideas for your own comedy sketches
  • How to use observation, imagination, and improvisation to inspire ideas for your sketches
  • What makes things funny, and why?
  • How to uncover your unique comedic voice
  • How to get past creative blocks and put pen to paper in order to write your own comedy sketches on your own, in pairs, and in small groups

You will also come away with:

  • Like-minded collaborators you could continue to write sketches with if you choose to
  • New confidence in your ability to see a creative idea from start to finish
  • A handful of writing tools to help you continue to write sketches between workshops
  • Some thoughts and teaching around how you might also direct and perform comedy sketches
  • An improved critical eye around comedy and your own unique understanding on what makes something funny

Who is this workshop for?

  • Anyone aged over 18
  • A complete beginner, or someone returning to a creative hobby after a period of time
  • Someone with a bit more experience who wants to use the opportunity to develop their toolkit and meet other people
  • Anyone looking to build their confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills
  • Those looking for a fun and productive activity to join in!

Please note that you absolutely do not need to consider yourself "funny" or "creative" to take part in these workshops, you will be guided and supported in uncovering more creative and comedic sides to yourself during the workshops. You just need to come armed with a curious mind and a willingness to give things a go!
