This Skills Bootcamp in Property Maintenance has been designed to directly respond to the need within the Construction and Housing sector for multi-skilled trades people who can safely and efficiently undertake a range of maintenance tasks.
Introductory Session:
- Course starts on 3rd November 2025 and runs until 19th January 2026
- An opportunity to meet with the expert Lecturer in Construction
- Take part in activities to get a better understanding of the content and study requirements of the full taught programme
- Discover the benefits of becoming an adult learner at Truro and Penwith College
- Meet with trained Guidance Officers to discuss career aspirations and any additional support or accessibility requirements.
Course Outline:
The Skills Bootcamp in Property Maintenance is a ten-week course, during which adult learners (aged 19 and over) will study a range of subjects that will enable participants to develop their career or business in the Construction and Property Maintenance sectors and prepare for progression onto further studies or an Apprenticeship.
Across the College-based teaching days, our specialist tutors will carry out an initial skills scan to help develop your knowledge and skills in a comprehensive range of topics including:
- Responsibilities within Property Maintenance
- Health and Welfare in the Workplace
- General Carpentry, including Timber Stud Walls, Window Repairs, Fitting Internal Doors and Door Linings
- Skirtings, Architraves and Patchwork Repairs
- Ironmongery
- Plaster Boarding and Skimming
- Introduction to Plumbing and Electrics
You will also benefit from access to industry experts and local employers, who will share their insights to assist you with your next steps for employment, professional development or self-employment.

Cost –
Thanks to funding from the Department for Education, there is no charge for individuals looking to re-train or upskill. SME employers will only need to pay 10% of the course fee if they enrol a member of staff (£257), whilst large organisations will be asked to contribute 30% (£771).
