Smart Energy GB in Communities

We’re delighted to have received funding from Smart Energy GB to deliver a project promoting the smart meter rollout, and encouraging as many residents as possible to take up the offer of a smart meter for their home. We’ve been pro-Smart since before they first launched. Our love of Smart Meters is twofold: We want our clients to receive accurate billing, and we want our clients to have an easy way of spotting at a glance what their current energy usage is. Only through this form of monitoring of daily usage can people truly appreciate (a) how much they’re using/spending, and (b) what impact they can have by working their way around their property and taking action on reducing energy wasting through such methods as switching things off, replacing inefficient items with more efficient equivalents, and maximising the use of controls (e.g. “eco” modes on washing machines/dish-washers, and central heating programmers/thermostats).

Our Smart Energy GB in Communities project is focussed on engaging with older residents (aged 65+). Between now and the end of September, we’re getting out and about, attending community events with our Energy Efficiency advice stall. We’re also delivering short briefing sessions, either in-person, or via Zoom/Teams to frontline workers who themselves engage with older residents.

These sessions will cover the 4 solutions to fuel poverty, with a link to using Smart Meters to assist in monitoring “energy efficient behaviour at home”.
