The Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice (CSSGJ) is very pleased to welcome Dr Anne Engelhardt for a stimulating talk titled “Social Reproduction Metabolism: The Labouring Body and Workers’ Struggles for Time and Space at Chokepoints in Brazil and Portugal.”

This talk explores how workers’ bodies and daily lives are shaped by the pressures of global capitalism, and how struggles over time, space, and reproduction emerge at critical chokepoints in the international economy. Drawing on case studies from Brazil and Portugal, Engelhardt examines the intersections of labour, social reproduction, and resistance, highlighting the politics of how work and life are organised under contemporary capitalism.

Join us for a rich discussion of labour struggles, social reproduction, and the everyday geographies of resistance across the global economy.
