The Software Sustainability Institute (www.software.ac.uk) is an EPSRC, AHRC, BBSRC, ESRC, NERC, MRC and STFC funded national facility that cultivates world-class research with software.We help people build better software, and we work with researchers, developers, funders and infrastructure providers to identify key issues and best practice in research software.

Research Software Camp: Next Steps in Coding

Our spring Research Software Camp: Next steps in coding will focus on improving computational and training skills and exploring existing resources out there. The Camp will be held from 16th to 27th May 2022.

This workshop is part of the <a href="https://www.software.ac.uk/RSCamp-next-steps-coding" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Research Software Camp: Next Steps in Coding</a>. It will be delivered by Annajiat Alim Rasel and Md Intekhabul Hafiz and is for anyone who wishes to update their teaching skills.It will focus on:<ul><li>Building skills with Feedback and Practice</li><li>Motivation &amp; Demotivation</li><li>Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility</li><li><a href="https://carpentries.github.io/instructor-training/17-live/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Live coding is a skill</a></li><li>Working with a team</li></ul>Before the workshop1. Prepare for the live coding exercises. Pick an episode from an existing <a href="https://carpentries.github.io/instructor-training/12-homework/index.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Software Carpentry, Data Carpentry, or Library Carpentry lesson</a> and read through it carefully. You will use this to practice live coding/participatory instruction for about 3 minutes. Imperfect presentations can generate useful feedback!2.
