<H2>Solving the Teaching Crisis - with Lucy Powell MP</H2>
The teaching profession is in crisis. Demoralised by unsustainable bureaucracy and constant policy changes, last year nearly 50,000 teachers left the profession, the highest number since records began. Meanwhile, as record numbers of school age children enter the system, the Government has failed to reach its recruitment target for the last 4 years.The National Audit Office, Headteachers, and Teaching Unions have been damning about the Government's failure to get a grip on the problem.
But how should Labour respond? The <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://www.facebook.com/youngfabianseducation/?fref=ts" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Young Fabian Education Network</A>, supported by education charity the <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://www.educationsupportpartnership.org.uk" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Education Support Partnership</A>, is bringing together the Shadow Secretary of State for Education Lucy Powell MP with two renowned experts on teaching recruitment and retention to develop new ideas to solve the teaching crisis.

Loic Menzies, former teacher and Director of education 'think-and-action tank' LKMco. Author of <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="http://whyteach.lkmco.org/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Why Teach?</A>, recent research into why people choose to go into teaching and remain there.
Solving the Teaching Crisis will take place at 18:30 in Committee Room 10 in the Palace of Westminster on Tuesday 24th May, 2016.
