This workshop offers an embodiment experience that traces human and non-human animal development patterns. Since our time in our mother&#x27;s uterus, movement is our primal sensation, creating our perception of self and the world. As a child grows, they build up their movement stage-by-stage to gain freedom and expression. However, development is not necessarily a linear process and is unique to each of us. By revisiting some of this significant movement learning, we aim to become aware of other possibilities and to integrate ourselves for more adaptability and responsiveness to the ever-challenging world.The workshop welcomes everyone with any movement experience although the venue is on the second floor, accessed by a staircase only, and therefore, regrettably, is not wheelchair accessible. Dates:Sundays, 12.15 - 3.00pm16 October, Returning to the sea 13 November, Growing out of the sea11 December, Moving on landVenue:Chisenhale Dance Space64-84 Chisenhale RoadLondon, E3 5QZAs the three workshops follow the sequence of early development, it is ideal to attend all of them for the complete journey. But it is also possible to attend one or two of them. The studio can be cold on some days. Bring your own yoga mat, blanket, cushions and warm clothing for your comfort. There will be some time lying on the floor. Please also bring writing and drawing materials for movement reflection. The fee for a workshop is on a sliding scale. According to your current finance, please pay between £20-50 (CDS members £15). The fees raised from these workshops will be donated to Chisenhale Dance Space (CDS).C﻿ontents:1) 16th October Returning to the seaThis is the first of a series of three workshops &quot;Moving through Evolution&quot;. We will work with our fluidic cellular bodies that have their own mind. Quietening our usual busy head mind, listen to the cellular body mind. There will be references to jellyfish and starfish. We will do some movement practices with specific images and take time to reflect on the experience individually and collectively. If you would like to expand and deepen yourself through movement practice, this is a great opportunity to connect to our primitive animal bodies and find our roots. I hope this will be a nourishing experience for you.2) 13 November, Growing out of the seaThis is the second of a series of three workshops &quot;Moving through Evolution&quot;. We will explore our three midlines of the body and how they can bring our actions keeping the connections to the nourishing fluid state we explored at the last workshop. How do we experience the transition between &#x27;being&#x27; and &#x27;doing&#x27;? What move us forward into the unknown? There will be references to sea squirts and fish. We will do some guided movement practices and take time to reflect on the experience individually and collectively. 3) 11 December, Moving on landThis is the last of three workshop series &quot;Moving through Evolution&quot;. We will explore more complex movement patterns that make us today. This enables us to move more efficiently to fulfil our wants and needs and express ourselves more richly. How can we do this maintaining the connections to the nourishing fluid state of being? And how do we navigate ourselves between being and doing? There will be references to frogs, lizards, cats and monkeys. We will do some guided movement practices and take time to reflect on the experience individually and collectively.These experiential workshops will be facilitated by Katsura Isobe, Dance Artist, Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (ISMETA), Registered Craniosacral Therapist (CSTA) and comprehensive Pilates teacher.
