Sounds barqoue - Concert by Candlelight. ‘New Horizons’ - Locke to Locatelli

About this event

Hastings Early Music Festival brings international performers to Hastings for concerts at St Mary in the Castle and Kino Teatr.

Sound of Times traces music back through time from Beethoven and Bach to Rameau and Purcell to venture beyond traditional classical music boundaries.

‘New Horizons’ - Locke to Locatelli

Daring dissonances, compelling rhetoric and angst-ridden affects... What makes Baroque music eternally new and life-affirming? Here, the synthesis of musical styles in Muffat’s Armonico tributo contrasts strongly with depictions of warfare and wild dancing.

Comprising some of the finest period instumentalists of our time, Sounds Baroque is heard regularly on Radio 3, has appeared at major London venues and at international festivals.

The exquisite Bach A min Violin Concerto is then offset by Locatelli’s temperamental ‘Song without Words’.
