SOUNDS BAROQUE
‘New Horizons’ - Locke to Locatelli
Daring dissonances, compelling rhetoric and angst-ridden affects... What makes Baroque music eternally new and life-affirming? Here, the synthesis of musical styles in Muffat’s Armonico tributo contrasts strongly with depictions of warfare and wild dancing.
Comprising some of the finest period instumentalists of our time, Sounds Baroque is heard regularly on Radio 3, has appeared at major London venues and at international festivals.
The exquisite Bach A min Violin Concerto is then offset by Locatelli’s temperamental ‘Song without Words’.
Julian Perkins - Director/harpsichord
Jane Gordon - solo violin
