About Poole Museum’s Redevelopment

Poole Museum will be re-opening in July 2025 following a £10.3m redevelopment – the ‘Our Museum’ project is supported by a grant of £3m by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The programme of capital works has included major repairs and conservation work to all three of the museum’s listed buildings including re-roofing, 60 new windows, stonework conservation, improvements to the public realms, six new galleries over five floors – including two temporary galleries, three maritime galleries and a ceramics, art and design gallery, doubling of publicly accessible space including the opening of Grade I listed Scaplen’s Court as part of the regular visitor offer for the first time, improvements to access including new lifts and accessible WCs, and improved visitor facilities including retail, catering, and events and community spaces. Project Manager Alison Gudgeon will share perspectives on the transformation journey and launching a brand new museum.
