<P CLASS="MsoNormal"><SPAN>In this Saturday morning session we will consider all aspects of spaceflight - both Earth satellites and automated interplanetary probes as well as the human exploration of space - past, present and future.</SPAN></P>
<P CLASS="MsoNormal"><SPAN> </SPAN>In these days of austerity people often consider the costs incurred by space exploration as prohibitive and doubt its utility. In the talks I hope to show that nothing could be farther from the truth. Spacecraft are now essential to our technological civilisation and I will look at several uses that they have which we nowadays take for granted and probably didn't even realise satellites were involved!</P>
