Powering Space is a volunteer organisation that is determined to make it easier for anyone to contribute to making humans an interplanetary species.

Outer space is difficult. From entrepreneurs, designers and thinkers to astrophysicists, rocket scientists or aerospace engineers, the space sector can seem pretty inaccessible. Space 101 will change that so that you can find your path in the NewSpace world.
With a host of experts, we'll introduce the tools, approaches and methodologies that have defined the 'tech' industry and will show you how these can be used to generate and drive innovation in the commercial space sector.
This event is for anyone who wants to help put humanity into space, but doesn't know how they can help. If you're keen to make humans an interplanetary species, want to start a moon base or want to understand how satellites work, this is the event for you.
We will be joined by 4 expert speakers who will be presenting new ways of approaching New Space exploration. They will also be presenting case studies to show you how it can be done and how you can get involved, and there will be a chance to network with the other attendees, with refreshments provided.
We are running an initial, partner event on January 23rd, which will cover the opportunities in New Space and the resources that are out there for you to use.
Speakers
<A HREF="https://www.linkedin.com/in/flora-macleod-02945a82/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Flora MacLeod</A> is a Design Lead at IBMiX, where she helps large corporates create better products.  She’s worked across a huge number of sectors and industries, with experience delivering projects at Maersk, Castrol, DWP and the FSA.  She gets excited about the prospect of designing for the problems of humans in space!
<A HREF="https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-olesya-myakonkaya-044644bb/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr Olesya Myakonkaya</A> is a Service Designer and a founder of Mars Nation, a design consultancy and a programme of immersive events which bring together experts and novices to solve grand human challenges of space exploration (as featured in TEDx).  Olesya’s expertise lies in the cross-section of human-centred design, scientific research, and communication. She has a decade of innovation experience at such organisations as GSK, Barclays, and UK government, where she designed new services and products.
<A HREF="https://www.linkedin.com/in/danieljohnsonxyz/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Daniel Johnson</A> started his journey of entrepreneurship at the age of 16 having founded several profitable businesses with one exit.  In the past few years he has worked as the Head of Marketing & Growth for several early stage, fast growth companies in SaaS, eCommerce, Apps with companies .
His specialities are in executing growth strategies, management & organisation. He is a mentor for several programmes including his role as Lead Growth Mentor for Google’s Launchpad Programme. In his spare time, he mentors non-for-profits, look at pictures of cats and is an avid climber.
As an engineer and head of customer success at Open Cosmos, <A HREF="https://www.linkedin.com/in/danisors/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dani Sors Raurell</A> actively contributes to simplifying access to space. He acts as the interface between Open Cosmos’ customers and the technical teams, managing customer interactions from the first delivery to the end of mission. By developing and documenting standardized requirements, he ensures customers can easily integrate their technologies. He also manages hardware and software development, translating customer needs into product features.
Daniel is an aerospace engineer passionate about space science and technology. While at university, he organised international CanSat competitions and coordinated rocket and sounding balloon projects. He has several years of experience working at the European Space Agency.
