Description
Spacing & Retrieval Practice with Cooperative Learning
Jakob Werdelin, VNET partner, w. Ed Dooley, Deputy Headteacher, Bluebell Primary School and SSIF Maths project lead.
Relevant mainly for teachers and subject leaders.
This workshop presents practical activities that embed subject learning into long-term memory and connects it to context and application. All activities are simple to stage and integrate naturally into any lesson the next day.
Throughout we will be referencing the new definitions of learning and the importance of memorisation in the 2019 Ofsted framework. Most importantly, we will see how memorisation is a basis for deep thinking, rather than regurgitation.
Delegates will be issued the new accessible guide HOW TO USE SPACED RETRIEVAL PRACTICE TO BOOST LEARNING by Shana K. Carpenter, Ph.D. Pooja K. Agarwal, Ph.D, Iowa State University.
