The Language Centre offers a variety of courses available to all students and staff of Queen's University Belfast.Courses are also open to members of the general public.Choose from our tutor-led language classes, computer-based language learning courses or sign language courses.

<H2>Spanish (Level 7):  </H2>
<H2>Thursday 17:00 - 19:00 for 10 weeks</H2>
This course will take place every Thursday for 10 weeks. Class will begin at 5.00pm and end at 7.00pm.

<H3>Learning Objectives:</H3>
Students taking the level 7 course should either have completed an A-level examination in the subject, completed level 6 here at Queen’s, or have an equivalent knowledge of the Language. The aim of level 7 is to develop strong language skills, cultural awareness and grammatical ability, giving the student confidence in their ability to express themselves and to communicate in a working environment.
Potential Topics:
Environment – Renewable Energies, Polution, Global Warming; ‘An inter-cultural society’ – Cultural difference (Spain vs. UK) as well as Immigration, emigration, xenophobia; The Economy and Unemployment – And its impact on differing generations; The Subjunctive tense; The impact of Modern Technology on business and lifestyles – The Internet, social media, mobile phones
New aAspects of Grammar to be Introduced: 
Verbs subjunctive mood: present, perfect, imperfect, pluperfect; uses of subjunctive: polite commands, negative commands; after verbs of wishing, command, request, emotion; to express purpose (para que); to express possibility/impossibility; after conjunctions of time (cuando lleguemos); in conditional sentences after si; all other common uses (R); uses of por and para
Learning Outcomes: 
Students will have developed a broad vocabulary in the topic areas outlined above and a comprehensive knowledge of all of the main grammatical themes. Students will have developed a strong understanding associated with the media, current affairs, everyday living, as well as working environments and an informed knowledge of tone and agenda in written texts. Students will be able to hold thoughtful discussions and discuss opinions.

What are the course fees?
There are different fees depending on registration type. All course fees are payable on enrolment. --Student fee: £20.00 --Staff fee: £20.00 --General Public: £88.00
Are these courses accredited?
A Queen's Certificate will be awarded to all students who attend regularly. A minimum of 70% attendance is required for certification. Note QUB Students, all Language classes (Languages for Non-Specialist courses) now count towards the <A HREF="https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/degreeplus/RoutestoDegreePlus/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">University's Degree Plus Award</A> (Route B).  Degree Plus Award is a new award for Queen’s students designed to provide official recognition of extra-curricular activities including Language Centre language courses which are open to all students whatever their degree subject. Employers are looking for graduates who can demonstrate that they have the skills needed for workplace success – the Degree Plus Award will help you do this!
How often do I attend?
Classes, which usually last two hours, are held weekly, as far as possible outside normal university teaching hours (e.g. late afternoon, early evening, some are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon) and run for 10 weeks starting in October and again in February.
Is my registration fee transferrable?
Yes, if you feel after your first class that the level of language is too high/low, you can transfer to another class, provided that there is available space.
What's the refund policy?
All refunds must be requested in writing and accompanied by your payment receipt before the start of the course. For all registered students, refunds are not normally paid after the beginning of classes. Any such request must be made in writing to the Language Centre Manager and must be related to reasons beyond your control and supported by written evidence. These refunds will be at the Language Centre Manager’s discretion.  All refunds, where agreed, will be subject to an administrative fee of £10.00 for QUB staff and students and £40 for members of the public.
