Sindbad Sci-Fiis a creative enquiry to discover the global interconnections of science fiction. We are on a mission to highlight the interrelationship between imagination and innovation whilst attempting to unravel the cultural intersections between science fiction and real technological developments in society.Sindbad Sci-Fi has captured a growing community of interest through brokering face-to-face and online discussion, building new partnerships and project collaborations along the way. The first phase of our evolving journey is to spur the discovery of and engagement with Arab Science Fiction. Join us as we continue star trekking across the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and beyond. Together, we will boldly go where no one else has gone before!MFestMFestis the UK’s first ever festival of Muslim literature, cultures and ideas, It will be a place to engage with Muslim writers and artists from a range of backgrounds and disciplines including literature, visual arts, music, theatre, poetry and dance. The festival includes family events, interactive workshops, panel discussions and performances.Central to MFest is contemporary writing and ideas with an international view, as well as topical discussions about identity, race and global politics. We encourage challenging conversations that explore the rich diversity of Muslim opinions from a multitude of Islamic traditions.

Dune, Frank Herbert’s epic science fiction novel, loaded with Islamic etymology, centres on a power struggle to control ‘the spice’ – an enduring ecological metaphor that still resonates today.
What fresh insights are emerging from hybrid perspectives of Sci-Fi and who are amongst the prescient voices to watch? Join us as we boldly venture to explore new frontiers in science fiction. From exhilarating cosmic conquests and intergalactic rescue missions to speculating on the environmental crisis of civilisation and survival beyond post-oil futures.
Featuring Noura Al-Noman, acclaimed author of the Ajwan space saga – a Young Adult Arabic book series causing a sensation in the Emirates. Soren Lind, scriptwriter and co-director, will present a UK debut of the plot for In Vitro, a forthcoming CGI post-apocalyptic dystopia set in Bethlehem, co-directed with filmmaker and artist Larissa Sansour. Also beaming up to join the panel is Nafeez Ahmed, a best-selling investigative reporter, international security analyst and author of Zero Point, a political science-fiction thriller featuring mass riots, black outs, financial meltdown and a new oil war in Iraq to keep the world economy afloat. The stellar panel also includes Naomi Foyle, author of The Gaia Chronicles, an eco-science fantasy quartet set in a post-fossil fuel Mesopotamia. Chaired by Faisal Al-Yafai, award-winning journalist and commentator.
