Norfolk and Waveney Training Hub are funding up to 30 places on this Spirometry for learners course, split into three sessions. Delegates will be expected to attend ONE session only. There are 10 places available on each session, delivered by Lindi Staunton, Respiratory Nurse Specialist. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

This one day course course aims to deliver a broad assessment of the main issues involved in performing spirometry in primary practice, indications for doing spirometry, how to undertake the tests, understand what you are measuring, details on quality control and further training. This workshop will equip the delegate to have a better understanding and be able to perform spirometry assessments by a theoretical and practical approach. They will need to complete a competency assessment back at their practice.

This does not include interpretation of spirometry. This course does not give the delegate accreditation with the Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology (ARTP).

This course would be suitable for HCAs and PNs who have never undertaken spirometry before and will become responsible for recording spirometry readings, within your primary care settings.

NB: Delegates will be required to bring with them, a spirometer and calibration syringe. This is to ensure that the delegate is using the machine correctly & taking correct readings.
