Overview
Join us to explore the murky history of the straitjacket
Join us at the Physicians’ Gallery on the last Wednesday of every month at 12.30pm for a curator-led talk exploring some of the objects on display in our gallery.
Our topic for this talk is the straitjacket. Supported as a mark of medical progress in 1700s Europe, hated by patients and criticised by Victorian reformers - the straitjacket has a controversial history.
This 20 minute talk is free, but booking is required. The meeting point is in the Gallery.
