Spring get together for those from London and nearby regions  into the various aspects of cereal  alternatives to commodified modern wheat.

E5 Bakehouse

T﻿he meeting will start with a discussion after lunch of the possible reasons to bake with 100% &quot;heritage&quot; wheat and how to do that if it is even possible at all? Andrew Forbes of the Brockwell Bake will start by describing the possible advantages of heritage wheat in terms of digestibility, nutrition and related flavour as well as looking at 2 heritage wheats with higher quality gluten. Laurence Carroll of Dozen Bakery, Norwich will share his experience (with examples to taste) of baking loaves without including any modern milling wheat.During break at around 4pm chance to take part in heritage Spring wheat blind tasting including Ölands grown in different locations, ways and seasons. There will also be small amounts of grain of all the wheats being tasted available for small plot sowings as well as a selection of tomato seeds and seedlings.A﻿fter 4:30 there will be a chance for a variety of bakers, millers and farmers to report on new projects they are working on including baker Graison Gill about his new bakery and mill with Natoora, Oscar Harding of Duchess Farms on them taking over Gilchesters milling operation, Anna Higham about her plans for new Islington bakery, Quince and Rebecca Spaven and Oliver Costello from Toad Bakery will review their first year in Camberwell.We&#x27;ll aim to end meeting around 6:30 with some time after this before we will need to be out.Staging the event will have costs so a donation towards this will be appreciated.
