About this event

  • 40 minutes

Join Tracey for a chat about her books A-Z of Jersey: People, Places and History and Jersey In 50 Building.  In the books, Tracey presents an engaging portrait of some of the island’s notable buildings, places, stories, and people from the past and present.  As well as being fascinating, the subjects for the books were chosen to create a framework around which a chronological exploration of Jersey’s development and wider story could be told.  Whilst the books are not definitive narratives of Jersey, they are accounts, with Tracey selecting subjects that she felt reflected Jersey’s incredibly rich and diverse story in a multitude of ways.

As well as talking about the content of her books, Tracey will share her writing experience.  She’ll highlight how and why she chose her subjects and will give insights into the planning process and how she researched and sourced material for the books.  And finally, for full disclosure, there will be an element of gentle audience participation during the talk!

About Tracey

A dedicated historian with a degree in history, Tracey Radford moved to the island, home of her parents and grandparents in her late teens.  Raised on tales of Jersey life from her Jersey-French grandmothers, Tracey’s love of Jersey, appreciation of its natural beauty and understanding of its culture and history led to her becoming a site guide for Jersey Heritage, an author of local interest books, a qualified Blue Badge Tourist Guide and a founding member of Jersey Uncovered.  This team of professional, tourist guides are all Blue Badge qualified and members of the UK’s Institute of Tourist Guiding.  Their tours and bespoke experiences help visitors as well as locals discover all things Jersey, from the Palaeolithic era to the present day.

Tracey admits that history is her passion, however, she does have other loves and interests including skiing, keeping fit, and the arts. But top of that list are most definitely her family and friends.

Tracey looks forward to seeing you and to sharing A-Z of Jersey: People, Places and History and Jersey In 50 Building.
