Mosaic workshop using Palestinian pottery pieces with Scilla Avatado of Mosaics for Palestine fame
See note below about change of address to Scilla's studio in Upper Clapton! (*)
It's always really sad when pots arrive from Palestine broken, and what we've done over years is to store them and wonder what we can do.
BUT NOW we have talked to Scilla Alverado of Mosaics for Palestine fame and she is going to run a mosaics session on Sunday 1st March, using these pots!
BROKEN PIECES WORKSHOP
We are lucky to have Scilla Avarado to guide you through the process. You can see Scilla's work on Instagram at @scillaalvaradomosaics and @mosaicsforpalestine. https://www.instagram.com/mosaicsforpalestine/
(*) Scilla has offered to run the workshop in her well equipped and bright studio. You will be sent the address in good time -
You will create and take home a mosaic sized up to about 20cm square. You will use pieces of broken Palestinian pots from Cafe Palestina and a range of other mosaic materials. We have plenty of other materials for your mosaic (see photo) and you will get expert tuition on cutting and design, as well as some health and safety advice.
MATERIALS CHARGE
Please note that as well as the CADFA donation included in the ticket we will ask you to make a contribution of £20 on the day for materials.
SHARED LUNCH
We also ask that you bring a small dish to share for lunch.
WAITING LIST
We are now (at time of writing this), one person away from full house! We are starting a waiting list so if anyone pulls out or we run another similar class, we can tell you.
The illustration shows you the sort of materials we will be working with.
