SQA Train the Trainer Course
This SQA–accredited unit is ideal for those with vocational expertise who deliver - or plan to deliver - training in small group settings.
This SQA–accredited Planning and Delivering Training Sessions to Groups (HE0T 33) unit is ideal for those with vocational expertise who deliver - or plan to deliver - training in small group settings. It’s tailored for candidates with limited or no prior training experience and perfectly suited to staff trainers, in‑house facilitators, or anyone aspiring to a training role in their organisation.
Who is it for?
- Staff whose role includes training small groups of learners in workplace or vocational contexts
- Individuals with subject knowledge seeking confidence and certification in training
- Workers aspiring to add structured training responsibilities to their role
Entry requirements
- No formal qualifications required
- Good command of English and communication skills
- Practical experience or expertise in the training topic you plan to deliver (optional, but would be beneficial)
Course delivery & durationDelivered over 3 separate days with a mix of training and delivery practice. You are required to attend all sessions which are in-person at the Dingwall Community Centre, Old Academy Buildings, Tulloch Street, Dingwall IV15 9JZ.
- Session 1 is from 10am to 4pm on Friday 6 February 2026
- Session 2 is from 10am to 4pm on Friday 13 February 2026
- Session 3 (assessment day) is from 9.15am to 2pm on Friday 20 February 2026
Between the sessions you will be expected to prepare assignments at home, for example developing training plans in advance of sessions 2 and 3. In total we would expect you to set aside 6 hours of work outside the sessions. You will need your own laptop with text processing software like Word/Google Docs to complete the assignments. The course trainer Mhairi Wylie is available by email for any questions in between sessions.The course fee is £150. This includes all learning materials; however, you are expected to bring your own method of keeping notes (notebook + pen and/or laptop). Coffee, tea and water are available at no additional cost. Please bring any food or snacks if you wish. There is a microwave, fridge and kettle available. The venue is also situated close to a shop where you can buy some food.
