Startup 101: Term Sheets, is our second talk on all things fundraising. We will take a look at how term sheets are structured, which areas matter for VCs, key legal concepts (and all that jargon), and thinking through future scenarios as a result of the term sheet.
This event is part of the Startup 101 Series hosted by Life+ Collective, (a community for founders building consumer products that enrich people's daily lives) and MJ Hudson Law's venture capital practice (experts on how to scale effectively and efficiently).
The series will delve into on all aspects of running a startup (from team building through to managing investors), aiming to demystify the who/what/where/when of entrepreneurship and to support you as you embark on your ‘founder journey’.

Throughout the series you will be joined by:
Savitri Tan, investor at Isomer Capital and co-founder of Life+ Collective. Savitri has extensive experience advising and investing in early stage founders, developing companies and growing teams from their formative stages through to funding. She previously worked at Talent Investor Entrepreneur First, and helped 200 would-be founders each year to meet their co-founders, start tech companies and raise funding from Europe's top early stage VCs.
Karma Samdup, Co-Managing Partner of MJ Hudson Law and also heads up the venture capital practice at MJ Hudson. Karma is an extremely experienced corporate and investment funds lawyer advising clients across the venture spectrum. This includes advising LPs and Family Offices on direct and indirect investments, GPs on launching venture capital funds (onshore and offshore) as well as on investments and exits. Karma also advises angels and HNWIs, and founders and high-growth start-ups.
Andrew Pannell, Partner in the VC practice at MJ Hudson. Andrew is a senior corporate lawyer who advises VC funds such as Connect Ventures and Illuminate Financial, family offices, CVCs and angel syndicates on a range of corporate matters, including venture / growth capital investments and M&A / exits. He also works with high-growth start-ups, predominately operating in the technology sector. Prior to MJ Hudson, Andrew worked at international law firms, Mayer Brown (in Asia) and Macfarlanes (in London), where he acted for private equity and corporate clients such as Standard Chartered PE, Franklin Templeton PE, WPP and Mitsubishi on their cross-border M&A activities. In his spare time, Andrew tries to keep himself active by running (or cycling) around the West Berks countryside, supplemented with the odd game of cricket, squash, tennis or golf.
Harriet Dedman, Senior Associate at MJ Hudson. Harriet advises founders, funds and investors on all aspects of VC transactions and corporate scaling up. With a background in litigation and restructuring, prior to MJ Hudson, Harriet worked at, Hogan Lovells and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and as Director of Legal & Investments for a Hong Kong based private equity firm. Harriet’s also dabbled in the world of documentary film and photography, most recently covering conflict and global affairs for HBO in New York.
