Bristol Education Partnership is a partnership of 9 schools, St Brendan's Sixth Form College, University of Bristol, UWE Bristol and Bristol City Council. The partnership has been established as a collaboration between partner organisations with the aim of tackling disadvantage, raising aspirations, broadening education and inspiring and supporting staff in member schools.

KS2 + KS3 teachers will have the opportunity to experience a virtual adventure in the Amazon through the eyes of their students.

<h2>Step into the Amazon </h2><h3>Emma Espley and Adriana Meirelles</h3>KS2 class teachers and KS3 Geography teachers and subject leaders will have the opportunity to experience a virtual Amazon adventure, as if they were a student taking part in an online multi-schools event. In the process, they will know more, understand more and remember more about this fascinating region of South America, as well as being able to do more (just what Ofsted are wanting to see among students).Many cross-curricular links will be emphasised, in addition to encouraging higher order thinking. Teachers will be provided with resource booklets and a resource list in advance of the session. Audience: Open to those teaching at KS2 &amp; KS3, especially geography teachers and subject leaders.Venue: OnlineEmma Espley spent fifteen years teaching in a variety of schools before becoming a freelance consultant, author and private tutor. Although much of her time has been dedicated to the teaching of geography, she has also taught other subjects, largely across the humanities. She has concentrated on promoting rigorous geography, geographical skills and fieldwork/’taking learning beyond the classroom’, cross-curricular links, global learning themes, higher-order thinking skills and transition. Her overriding aim is to use her creativity to inspire other educational professionals.Adriana Meirelles is a Brazilian animator and illustrator, who now lives in Bristol. She has a Degree in Communication from ESPM in São Paulo and a master’s degree in Animation from the University of the West of England. Adriana started her career as an animator for various production companies in São Paulo. To date, she has been involved, either as a director, animator or art director, with more than 15 series for Brazilian television. In 2008, Adriana established her own company, Estudio Caleidoscópio. The studio produces a vast range of materials and works in collaboration with artists in the UK, France and Brazil. It focuses on creating materials relating to social causes and environmental issues. Adriana has been fortunate to travel extensively throughout the Amazon with her husband, an English writer. Their travels led to the production of two books about legends and stories from the region. Booking: This session is open to staff at primary and secondary schools within Bristol - and beyond.
