Introduction to Construction – 4‑Week Training Programme for NEET Young People (16–24)

Are you aged 16–24 and living in Aston, Lozells or Newtown? Interested in starting a career in construction but not sure where to begin?
This free, four‑week Introduction to Construction course is designed to give you the skills, experience and qualifications you need to take the first step into the industry.

What’s Included

Over the four weeks, participants will gain:

🔨 Over 90 hours of hands‑on work experience
Experience real residential and commercial construction environments, including:

  • Paving, fencing, jet washing, garden maintenance
  • Cleaning, fixing, and general maintenance on commercial sites such as care homes, law firms or residential blocks

🎓 Industry‑recognised qualifications

  • CSCS Green Card (required to work on any UK construction site)
  • Accredited Health & Safety certifications valued by employers

💼 Employability support

  • CV updates and job applications
  • Interview preparation and techniques
  • Weekly one‑to‑one support to build confidence and create a tailored path into employment

🌱 Soft skills development
Participants also grow essential workplace skills such as:

  • Punctuality
  • Communication
  • Teamwork
  • Following instructions
  • Health & Safety awareness

Paid Work Placements

At the end of the programme, young people will have the opportunity to go into paid placements with top employers including:
Vinci • MPB Construction • Taylor Woodrow • Sisk

These placements give participants a strong stepping stone into long‑term employment.
