Aimed at students, trainees, and junior professionals, join us for the next session in the STEP Jersey Next Gen series, hosted and presented by Carey Olsen.

"Family Dynamics: A Day in the Life of a Private Client Lawyer."

Victoria (Senior Associate) and Lauren (Associate) will discuss the issues that may arise within a family trust and how to deal with them as they arise.

The case in question will be the “Beckford Family Trust” saga, a family who are in the spotlight, have built a business empire and multiple brands (sound familiar?) and who have set up a family trust in Jersey to benefit their family and future generations. What could possibly go wrong?

Victoria and Lauren are looking forward delving into this case study with industry Next Gens and intend to cover:

• Setting up a trust
• Marriage and divorce aspects – including the use/value of pre-nups
• Distributions to beneficiaries
• Disclosure of trust information
• Death of the settlors – the interaction between wills and trusts

The event will include a 35-40 minute presentation followed by time for questions. A selection of complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and food will be provided.

4.30 - 4.40pm: Arrival and registration

4.45pm: Welcome from STEP Next Gen and presentation, with time for Q&A

5.30- 6.00pm: Food served & networking, attendees are encouraged to stay
