Join us to stitch together in a special project to remember the 80th Anniversary of VE Day - let's stitch and create together!
The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland and Ciaran Doran are delighted to invite you to a free curated workshop of sewing and activity designed to remember VE Day on 8 May 1945 and the end of WW2 in Europe. Attendees will be invited to add stitches to a collaborative textile that is compiled of pieces and patches of fabric of the era, predominantly cottons and linen. Postcards will be available for attendees to jot down thoughts, memories and personal stories.
Ciaran is a creative curator, originally from London and now based in NI. She has worked in the Arts & Cultural Heritage sector for 43 years, previously with the Imperial War Museum and NI War Museum and more recently with NVTV, Brain Injuries Matter, Belfast City Council and is Chair of Belfast Exposed. With a passion for creating narrative through textiles, art and spoken word Ciaran has focussed her work for this project on the legacy of VE Day and how 80 years on there are still so many stories to hear, share and sew.
There will be the opportunity to attend one of three sessions of up to 40 attendees. No experience necessary and all sewing materials provided !!
