About the Workshop:
999 Call for the NHS in association with Gawthorpe Textiles Collection are pleased to be offering two textile workshops at Valley Street Community Centre in Burnley to accompany the Threads of Survival exhibition of quilts hosted at Gawthorpe Hall as part of the British Textile Biennial throughout October.
Explore panels from the quilts and then begin designing and making your own panels that can be used to create a Burnley ‘Threads of Survival’ community quilt or textile hanging.
The workshop will be themed around the effects of the pandemic on people’s lives and the importance of maintaining the National Health Service for all of us.
The workshops are open to all levels of experience and we promise a friendly space to exchange thoughts and opinions openly and with respect for one another.
We hope the result will be a unique quilt that represents Burnley and the surrounding area.
Facilitators:
Christine Hyde and Steven Carne - 999 Call for the NHS and Threads of Survival founders
