Stop Motion Animation Workshop - 14+ session

Curious about stop motion animation? Join this 2 hour taster session and explore your creativity through play.

Explore creativity and storytelling through the magic of stop motion animation. We encourage participants of all agies to take part in this hands on, taster stop motion session ideal for beginners.

We’ll cover some basic principles and then using your own phones with a stop motion app, you’ll capture images using the materials provided to tell your own unique story.

The class size will be small and run by myself, so I'll be able to offer guidance every step of the way.

Play and curiosity is at the heart of my practice and you are encouraged to keep this in mind and you’ll be amazed by what you can create.

This class is for older children and adults, I will be running another workshop especially for children under 14 and their responsible adults.

Important workshop information

• To make your own animations during the session you will need to bring a smart phone with the stop motion app installed. Free to download for both iPhone and Android. Please note that if you bring a device like an ipad, you will also need to bring your own tripod to hold it.

• Please ensure the app Stop Motion Studio (the free version is perfectly suitable) is downloaded and ready to use before you arrive, as I can't be sure of a strong WIFI connection -

Workshop leader

My name is Amanda Stockley and my studio is based at Blue House Yard, where I work on stop motion animations. I’ve been working in the creative industry predominantly as a filmmaker and photographer for over 10 years. More recently I started to explore animation as a way to tell stories and became captivated by the creative opportunities it provides. During my workshop I want to share my passion for animation.
